Your Festive Guide for 2021

As we begin the start of the festivities for 2021, I wanted to produce a family-friendly guide to some of our team at Embryo’s favourite events to take part in at this time of year.

Spooky World

First up, it’s Apple Jacks Farm’s very own Spooky World! Spooky World offers a child-friendly spooky at night, and a much more frightening adult version scary by night (14+) and WARNING, adults this IS scary, so if you’re not one for horror films and haunted houses, then I would give this one a miss! If you’re like me and enjoy the thrill of getting yourself so scared that you find yourself sprinting up the stairs to bed at night, then Spooky World is just the thing for you. You will start the night by taking a ride through the farm on an open-air tractor followed by a frightful race to get yourself out of the field of screams, but here’s the twist, you aren’t there alone, you will find yourself being chased by the infamous horror characters like Michael Myers and Leather Face from the classic scary movies ‘Halloween’ and ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ (a few of my personal favourites).

The Forbidden Forest

This is an exciting newcomer to the festive events this year for all Harry Potter fans, Arley Hall has launched their very own Forbidden Forest experience which is available for all ages and lasts between 60-90 minutes. Here’s what you can expect throughout:

  • Explore a light trail into a dark forest to encounter fantastic beasts and iconic Wizarding World moments
  • Come face-to-face with magical creatures such as Hippogriffs, Centaurs, Unicorns, Nifflers and more
  • Cast spells with your wand, and conjure a Patronus
  • Enjoy a selection of magical food and drinks inspired by the Wizarding World

Manchester Monster Trail & Bonfire Night

Halloween in the City has returned this year with the gigantic inflatable glowing monsters that lurk across the buildings in the City centre. This is a great day out for families to walk around Manchester and find all of the hidden monsters, you can even share pictures of the monsters using the hashtag #MCRMonsters.

If your Bonfire nights are similar to mine, they will very much involve being stuck in the pouring rain, queuing to get yourself a drink and a hotdog until you eventually see 10 minutes of a firework display (to which you’re standing right at the back). So this year why not turn the 5th of November into something more personal and festive! Wrap up warm in your garden and get your own mini bonfire going, ensure you have bought some marshmallows and kebab sticks for toasting on the fire! Smores are also another popular festive treat, take a look at the recipe here. Finally, don’t forget the sparklers to spell your name with!

King Street TownHouse VIP Movie Screenings

Keep a lookout for the King Street Townhouse to reveal their Christmas screenings this December in their luxury cinema located in the boutique hotel cellar. Your ticket will include a welcome drink and festive movie snacks with the option to order drinks to your seat throughout. This is a must-do if you’re a fan of Christmas films! Alternatively, you can also have the chance to watch the magical experience of Love Actually at the Bridgewater Hall with a live orchestra to accompany the film. Be sure to book quickly as these tickets sell out fast!

Make the day out of it and start by browsing the Manchester Christmas markets located in Piccadilly Gardens this year due to renovations to the City centre town hall. They have lots of great Christmas gift ideas, not to mention the incredible choice of food and drink from paella, German sausages, schnitzel, Nutella pancakes and the best of all enjoy a classic hot mug of gluhwein or baileys hot chocolate!

If you haven’t purchased your Christmas tree or decorations yet, make sure you visit Bents garden centre which gets jam-packed every year with people going purely to check out their incredible Christmas display!

These are a just few personal favourites from our team members, we would love to hear more festive fun activities for us to get involved with this year. Alternatively, if you feel we have missed your event off of the festive guide or would like to discuss ways to help promote them with our digital marketing expertise be it Social, Digital PR or PPC (and many more), contact us today and a member of the team will be happy to help!
